Housing & support

Columbus Close

This service:

  • helps vulnerable tenants keep their homes (in event of rent arrears and abandonment etc) and
  • supports tenants to become more independent
  • works with councils to sort out repairs, rent arrears, neighbour disputes, eligible benefits and other issues
  • works with voluntary and statutory services to sort out referrals and help tenants access local resources

We work across London and Hertfordshire, but the service provided depends on the council borough.

Floating support

'Floating' means our support can float according to need and not be tied to particular properties.

We assess the support needs and provide support for SPH Housing and council tenants in:

  • Barnet, north London
  • Camden, north London and
  • Watford, Hertfordshire

We work with Barnet council social services' Family Support Division.

Specialist mental health support

This is a floating service for tenants in Camden, north London.

Supported housing for people with mental health problems

North London

This support is provided at specific north London locations in:

  • Camden, 10 homes
  • Enfield, four homes
  • Islington, seven homes

These schemes and services provide self-contained housing for people with mental health problems who require some support to enable them to live more independently in the community.

The flats are self-contained, with one bedroom, living room, kitchen and bathroom. Fitted carpets, cookers and fridges are also provided.

As a tenant, you receive specialist housing management (repairs chasing, rent etc) and support from a named Housing and Support Officer.

Watford, Hertfordshire

Our scheme has nine self-contained flats - three units at Derby Road and six units at Canterbury Road.

The scheme is designed for independent living for those who have primarily mental health issues and who require a low level of support in order to maintain their tenancy.

There are two Housing and Support Officers who work at Canterbury Road and they also offer floating support to SPH general needs tenants in the surrounding area.

Assessment & support service

Our Assessment and Support Officer assesses the potentially vulnerable, who may find it difficult to sustain their tenancy. Support can be offered to SPH tenants in Camden, Islington and Enfield if they have problems with resettlement, benefit advice, accessing community resources, forms of support, disability, obtaining grants, arrears etc.
