Care & Repair services

Eligibility

We arrange for repairs and adaptations at the homes of homeowners, private tenants, and tenants of other Housing Associations in the London boroughs of Islington and Camden who are either:

60 years of age or over
Have a disability, or
Are a vulnerable person

Services

Arranging for adaptations to be made
Dealing with serious repair problems
Arranging the finance to fund the building work (including obtaining grants and equity release);
Advising on welfare benefits and referring for further support where possible
Carrying out minor repairs and home security improvements

Home From Hospital service

This service assists people return home from hospital by arranging house cleaning, rubbish clearance, decorations, repairs and improvements, essential furniture and access to welfare benefits and other services.

In 2008/09 we received 67 referrals from three hospitals in Islington, North London. We work closely with Islington Primary Care Trust.

Handyperson service

We offer a small repairs service to residents in Camden and Islington. Labour is free, but client's will need to pay for parking and materials. This service is available to anyone living in Camden or Islington, including council tenants, home-owners, private tenants, and tenants of Housing Associations including SPH Housing.

Camden & Islington Safety Works

This service offers free security measures to make you feel more secure in your home. This service is available to any person who is:

60 years of age or over
A Disabled or vulnerable person
A victim of repeated burglary or
A victim of domestic violence
